As you leave the airport and settle in for the drive to your mexican home-away-from-home you finally relax and take in the scenery. The dry rocky landscape peppered with thorn trees and cacti soon transforms into the lush, palm tree lined stretch of the corridor that houses the many resorts and prestigious gated communities. Emerald green golf course links sit interspersed with native vegetation and the azure sky stretches from ocean to desert. As you approach Cabo San Lucas the excitement grows in anticipation of seeing your villa in real life after spending hours imagining it while pouring over online pictures.
The driver pulls up to the gate and greets the security guard who after a brief exchange waves you through. You wind through the neatly manicured streets of Santa Carmela admiring the homes as you pass. Finally, there it is! The Sombrero-like curves welcome you in. As you walk through the beautiful Marlin-guarded front door, you feel a cool, calm that begins to release the stress you came to escape from. You kick off your shoes and head straight out to the deck to look out at the blue sea. You take your first deep breath of clean, fresh sea air and now your vacation has really begun!
Time for a nice cool drink from the pre-stocked Sub-Zero or wine cooler and then off to see the suites and decide who will be sleeping where. Since you are drawn to the majestic whale you get dibs on the Ballena Suite where you find a comfortably elegant suite with beautiful mexican artwork reflecting the Ballena the suite is named for. You feel at home right away and can’t wait to spend your first night snuggled into your bed.
After settling in to their suites everyone convenes in the kitchen to decide what to do for dinner! There are so many choices; BBQ outdoors interspersed with dips in the pool and hot tub or a first evening out at one of the many fantastic restaurants in Cabo. You’re feeling a bit washed out from the trip so you decide to stay in! You enjoy sundowners on the deck, dinner under the palapa and then settle in for the night!
After a great night’s sleep in the quiet comfort only a private villa can provide you wake refreshed and are excited about your first day in Cabo. Over a cup of coffee enjoyed on the patio, plans are made for the day and others lined up for the rest of your stay. You lean back in your chair look up at the blue sky and over to the horizon where it meets the sea and a smile settles on your face as you contemplate the days to be spent sunning on the beach, relaxing by the pool with a good book or the adventures to be had snorkeling, fishing or parasailing. You can’t wait to get started … but maybe just one more cup of coffee as you watch the whales cruise by.
